Abstract

The research analyzes human comfort conditions in the city of Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, using the Steadman Heat Index (HI), based on the region’s tropical climate classification, according to the Köppen system (1936). The study focuses on the hot-dry season, which predominates in the capital for approximately seven months each year, due to the irregular distribution of rainfall, concentrated between November and March. The methodology consists of applying the Heat Index to local climate data to verify the relationship between the results and the population’s thermal perception. The study aims to contribute to the democratization of knowledge about thermal comfort, providing accessible information to the general public — usually unfamiliar with the subject — and technical support to public administrators to guide urban and environmental policies focused on improving quality of life.
