Abstract

This article analyzes the green areas in the historic city of Goiás/GO, specifically in the Architectural and Urban Complex listed by the Union since 1978 and declared a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO since December 2001. The research aims to identify and quantify the green areas through the Green Area Index (IAV), Percentage of Green Areas (PAV) and Index of Open Spaces for Public Use (IELUP), highlighting their importance for urban sustainability and the preservation of historical heritage. The survey was conducted through field visits and analysis of satellite images. The results obtained assist in sustainable urban planning and specific strategies for mitigating environmental problems, such as floods and environmental degradation.
